When I first moved to New York, I lived in an apartment in Flatiron. As a new kid on the block, I was delighted to find out I was surrounded by Danny Meyer’s world-renowned restaurants like Gramercy Tavern, Union Square Cafe, and Maialino.I literally lived across the street of Gramercy Tavern, and I could see the restaurant from the window of my apartment. Every evening after work I walked past the restaurant I promised myself to pay it a visit before I leave NYC. As good and famous as it is, it is also hard to book. We decided to give a 9:30pm reservation a chance (it was either 5:30pm or 9:30pm for the whole month) as my foodie friends and I consider anything after 8pm is late since we usually have early work the next morning.
After 3 long anticipated weeks, we were excited to try out what the star executive chef, Michael Anthony, had to offer. Without a doubt we went with the seasonal tasting menu. It is a 5 course menu that ends with a to-die-for dessert dish that I still can’t stop craving. The journey started with a refreshing starter of marinated scallops, and for the next 2.5 hours our senses were stimulated by every course placed in front of us.
A month later I came back with my other friends, and it did not fail to surprise me again.
